A Global Leader in the Making
BTIG was formed in 2005, through the merger of two well-respected institutional trading firms, San Francisco's Baypoint Trading and New York's Bass Trading. Bringing together over 95 years of capital market experience, Baypoint founders Scott Kovalik, Kevin Chessen and Cordy Snyder, and Bass Trading founders Steven Starker and Brian Sklar, set out to create an institutional trading firm that offered high-touch service in an industry that had become increasingly automated and electronic. What began in 2002 with five employees has since grown to over 350 employees across 9 domestic offices and 4 international affiliate offices worldwide. We are quickly becoming one of the most recognized agency-focused execution and fund services firms in the world.
Marking a significant milestone in BTIG's history, in 2008, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. became an investor. While we remain a fully independent firm, this investment facilitates BTIG's expansion, both in the U.S. and strategic international locations, enabling us to deliver our services to a broader client base.
